Legislator Hardwick Announces Free, Guided Walks at Isle View Park

Erie County Legislator Kevin Hardwick announces that a free guided walk at Isle View Park in Tonawanda will be held on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012. The walk is part of the six-week, “Be Active Erie County!” series to promote an active and healthy lifestyle.  

Registration begins at 9 a.m. at the gazebo, 796 Niagara Street in Tonawanda, NY 14150, followed by the walk at 9:45 a.m.

Additional walks are scheduled on the following days:

When contacted this week, Buffalo Warriors owner Ed Bednarz would only say that he had “No comment ... yet!” Last season, the team participated in the Atlantic Coast Professional Basketball League.

The First Tee of WNY Hosts "Kids First" Golf Tournament

Orchard Park, N.Y. (July 10, 2012) – The First Tee of Western New York invites local golfers to participate in its largest annual fundraiser, the “Kids First” Golf Tournament, on July 20 at Harvest Hill Golf Course.

Presented by Sgroi Financial, the event ensures The First Tee of Western New York has the resources necessary to grow and evolve. In its eight-year history, the tournament has raised more than $100,000 for youth programs.

Through the National Schools Program and partnerships with several local YMCAs, Boys & Girls Clubs and community groups, The First Tee of Western New York reached more than 1,200 youth in 2011 and aims to reach 5,000 by 2013.

Since launching a new endeavor, The First Tee’s national “Campaign For 10 Million Young People” to help more young people succeed on the course and in life, the tournament is more important than ever.

Annunciation School Receives Greater Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame Grant

Annunciation School in Elma was recently named a recipient of a 2012 Greater Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame Amateur Sports Development Fund (ASDF) grant. The grant was used to introduce a new soccer team at the school, located at 7580 Clinton St.

This is the second year in a row that the school has received a grant from the ASDF. Annunciation used last year’s grant to offer a new softball program.

Grisanti Resolution Designates May As Motorcycle Safety And Awareness Month

Senator Mark Grisanti (R-60) today announced that by order of a resolution passed by the New York State Senate and signed by Governor Andrew Cuomo, May shall be designated as Motorcycle Safety and Awareness Month.  As the number of motorcyclist increases there becomes a greater need to teach riders how to operate their machines safely and the general public needs to become more aware of the proper ways to safely share the road with bikers. This resolution is designed to remind the public that another riding season has started and that they should be alert to the presence of motorcycles on the streets and highways.
