Annunciation School Earns National Honor for Hunger-fighting Work

Annunciation School Earns National Honor for Hunger-fighting Work

Annunciation School in Elma recently received a National School of Distinction status from the Schools Fight Hunger program. Fewer than 2,000 schools nationwide earned this level of distinction in the 2010-2011 school year.

The National School of Distinction status is awarded to schools that demonstrate notable enthusiasm, creativity or dedication in getting involved with the hunger cause. Whether it’s activating students around a school-wide food drive, organizing volunteers for a local pantry or food bank or cultivating a school garden to provide fresh produce for the cause, schools across the country have been playing a larger role in helping to fight hunger nationwide.

JRS Morgan Realty LLC Raising Funds for East Aurora PTO

JRS Morgan Realty LLC Raising Funds for East Aurora PTO

In these tough times, many schools have had to make some tough decisions.  When East Aurora Schools cut all the district's field trips, Stephanie Morgan and Mandy Carl, owners of local real estate firm JRS Morgan Realty LLC, knew they had to do something to help.

"We wanted to raise awareness.", said Carl, "We wanted to do more than just write a check to the PTO, rather make people in the area realize how serious the situation is."  "We live in this community, we work in this community, our kids go to school here." adds Morgan.  "We are a small company but we wanted to make a large impact with our donation."
