Erie County SPCA Halloween Special

Erie County SPCA Halloween Special

A Statement Released by the Erie County SPCA

Hurricane Sandy can force East Coast animal shelters to close, leaving many animals with nowhere to go. The SPCA Serving Erie County may be called upon to help. In fact, Hurricane Sandy may cause animal rescue and housing emergencies right here at home. For these reasons, we're clearing the kennels to make room for dogs who fall victim to this howling storm.  Take advantage of this ghoulishly-great Halloween special!

Scarcity of natural available food, cold temperatures and severe storms push bird mortality high all winter long. You can help birds meet their nutritional needs during wintertime, and will surely be rewarded with a diverse, frequent flock of feathered friends.

The arrival of autumn signals many changes in the household, from switching from salads to soups to pulling sweaters out of storage to changing furnace filters. With pets, however, you may need to think as much about what you don't change as what you do.

Chicago veterinarian Dr. Shelly Rubin is well acquainted with the dramatic temperature swings that accompany the change of seasons, as well as how to help pets and owners cope with them. Following is his list of fall do's and don'ts for pet owners.
