When slowed down by life's common inconveniences — a traffic jam, an overtime game or a crowded grocery store — it is often impossible to accomplish everything on your to-do list. In fact, a recent study reveals that when cat owners arrive home late, 63 percent admit that cleaning out the litter box will have to wait until the following day, according to a 2012 study by StrategyOne commissioned by Arm & Hammer. But even on a tight schedule, there are a number of ways to keep your litter box fresh, avoid unwanted odors in your home and make sure that your cat is purr-fectly happy.

Create a kitty corner. Don't underestimate the power of organization. Daily chores will seem less daunting if they can be completed quickly. Create one area in your home that stores all cat-related items — from food and toys to litter and grooming tools. This will eliminate wasted time typically spent running up and down the stairs in search of a missing scooper.

All paws on deck. When possible, involve all members of the household in cat parenting activities. A feeding and litter box schedule can help you divide up responsibilities and ensure that one person doesn't feel overwhelmed. Once in place, make sure everyone is aware of their roles and held accountable. Post colorful reminders and rely on a system of checks and balances.

Look for long-lasting litters. According to the same study, a vast majority of cat owners (84 percent) worry about unpleasant odor from the litter box, and approximately half use scented candles and air fresheners in an attempt to mask the smell. New Arm & Hammer Ultra Last Clumping Cat Litter provides long lasting odor control even when you can't scoop every day. Every granule is coated with baking soda, plus the formula has powerful odor destroyers to deliver extended odor control.

Make time for pet projects. Even on the most hectic day, it's important to schedule some down-time — and relaxing with a furry friend is a great stress reliever. Almost all survey respondents (98 percent) take pride in knowing that their cat is well cared for, happy and healthy. Have you made time for a cat nap today?
