Msgr. Kevin O’Neill, canonical administrator at Mary Queen of Angels Regional Catholic School in Cheektowaga, received the Diocese of Buffalo’s Outstanding Achievement Award at the Celebration of Catholic Education gala held on Jan. 29 at the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center.

Msgr. O’Neill, who will step down as educational administrator at the Catholic school at the end of the current school year, previously served as pastor of Immaculate Conception parish in East Aurora for 23 years, retiring in 2005.

Growing up in Holy Family parish in South Buffalo, Msgr. O’Neill attended Bishop Timon High School before entering the seminary in Erie, Pa. He was ordained in 1961.

The Outstanding Achievement Award was presented to Msgr. O’Neill by Bishop Richard Malone of the Diocese of Buffalo. A retirement Mass honoring Msgr. O’Neill is currently being planned and will take place at Queen of Martyr’s Church in Cheektowaga in June.
