A Growing School Results in a Growing Sports Program at Annunciation

Participation in sports plays an important role in a well-rounded education, and Annunciation School in Elma is pleased to report that its athletics program continues to grow.

Congratulations to our basketball teams for their hard work this season. We wish to thank our basketball coaches for their time and efforts. And congratulations to our girls’ varsity basketball team for winning their division!

A big thank you to Annunciation’s Holy Name Society, the Home School Guild and Chet Lewalski for their financial support toward the purchase of our new volleyball net system. Mr. Lewalski spearheaded the effort and we cannot thank him enough for all of his work on this project. Thank you as well to Jeff Tredo and Jeff Ulrich for their installation of the net. We look forward to many years of using an up-to-date and safe net system for our volleyball program, as well as our school and parish groups.

Coach Robin Bartnik is excited to have students in grades two through eight on her track team. Track is a fun way to be part of the school community and takes place in April and May.

Coach Caryn Bartnik will be starting her boy’s volleyball team practices in early March.  The team will likely start league play in late March and play through April.

We are very pleased to announce that Annunciation will be starting a new girls’ softball team for grades six through eight this spring. Details are pending but coaches will be Joe and Michele Jankowski. Thank you to the Jankowskis for helping to get this team started!

The softball team is also proud to announce that it is the recipient of an $800 grant from the Greater Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame Amateur Sports Development Fund. The grant will be used to purchase new equipment for the team.

A Sports Planning Meeting & Book Fair will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday, April 11, in the school gym. The purpose of this meeting will be to review the goals met this year and establish any changes to be made to improve the program next year.

Physical education classes twice per week and an optional Ski Club round out the sports offerings.

Located at 7580 Clinton St. in Elma, Annunciation currently serves children in Pre-K3 through Grade 8 from the Alden, Alexander, Attica, East Aurora, Cheektowaga, Depew, Iroquois, Lancaster, Orchard Park and West Seneca school districts.
