Annunciation School Nurse Earns Excellence in School Nursing Award

Debbie Kampff, RN, the school nurse at Annunciation School in Elma, was recently awarded the 2013 Excellence in School Nursing Award by the New York State Association of School Nurses. Kampff, who also serves as zone representative for the Western New York Association of School Nurses, was nominated by the local organization.

At Annunciation, Nurse Debbie is involved in everything from putting bandages on playground scrapes to helping develop classroom curriculum for the school’s innovative Center for Health Science. She has served as school nurse at Annunciation for 18 years.

“We are extremely grateful to have a full-time nurse on staff at our school, especially one that is so caring and compassionate,” said Sister Marilyn Ann Dudek, principal of Annunciation School. “Nurse Debbie has an outstanding relationship with all of our students, faculty and parents. She is very committed to our school community and her profession, and we are all so very proud that she is now being recognized by her peers.”

“Annunciation is a very special place for me,” said Kampff. “I was born and raised Catholic, so it’s nice to now be working in a Catholic school. Every school deserves to have a school nurse, because when a crisis does arise, it should not have to fall upon the staff, a teacher or the principal.”

Located at 7580 Clinton St., Annunciation School currently serves children from Pre-K3 through Grade 8. For more information, please visit www.annunciationschoolelma.com or follow the school on Facebook at www.facebook.com/AnnunciationSchoolElma.
