Pet Connection to Hold Chicken Barbecue, Basket Auction on November 5

Pet Connection Programs Inc., a maternity and special care shelter for dogs and cats located in Marilla, will hold a chicken barbecue and basket auction from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, in the Variety Club Banquet Hall, 6114 Broadway, Lancaster.

Dinners are take-out only and will include a half chicken from BW’s Barbecue plus a cream corn bake, mashed potatoes with gravy, homemade noodle salad, roll and dessert. The cost for the chicken dinner is just $10 per person.

The basket auction will feature more than 150 items, and all proceeds will benefit the homeless shelter animals at Pet Connection Programs Inc., located at 12935 Williston Road, Marilla.

Pet Connection’s popular “Doggy Bags” and “Tabby Totes” filled with treats and surprises will also be available for purchase at the event.

The Rural Outreach Center (ROC) is excited to offer East Aurora preschools a chance to experience the benefits of EPIC parenting workshop. All classes will take place from 9:15 to 11:15 a.m.

Rural Outreach Center to Offer Five-week Diabetes Program

Rural Outreach Center to Offer Five-week Diabetes Program

The Rural Outreach Center (ROC) is inviting individuals who have diabetes, and their caregivers, to learn more about this medical condition through discussion and activity. During five sessions beginning Oct. 4 and running through Nov. 1, conversations and activities will focus on diet, exercise and medication, all of which impact this condition. 

Additionally, handouts will be provided to help individuals with diabetes live and manage their life successfully. Classes will be taught by Don Birdd, a retired science professor from Buffalo State College who has lived with diabetes for over 18 years.

Classes will be held at the Rural Outreach Center, 730 Olean Road, East Aurora, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Please register in advance by calling Don at 652-8197 or Ruthie at 220-4834.

Annunciation Program to Focus on Works of Mercy

An evening focused on Spiritual and Corporal Works on Mercy will take place from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, in Selbert Hall at The Church of the Annunciation, 7580 Clinton St., Elma

Participants will gain a better understanding of the works of mercy through organizations that live them out. Representatives from Girard House, Response to Love Center, Mother Teresa House, Harvest House, Catholic Charities (Refugee Division) and Kairos will participate in the event. Refreshments will be served.

Enjoy the Journey Art Gallery Lists September and October Events

“Coexist,” an exhibit featuring the work of artists Jessica Rosenberg and Lauren Fratantonio Dunn, two college friends who decided on an exhibit exploring their love of animals and nature, is now on display at Enjoy the Journey Art Gallery through Oct. 1. The gallery, located at 1168 Orchard Park Road in West Seneca, has also announced a variety of classes, workshops and events taking place throughout September and October.

Zentangle in Fall Leaves with artist Kelly Barone takes place from 6:30 to 10 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14. Barone will have the students using Twinkling H20s and tangling – a new and fun fall project! Zentangle 101 is a prerequisite, and the cost is $40.
