South Buffalo Charter School Plans to Build New Building

South Buffalo Charter School Plans to Build New Building

As it winds down its first decade of service to students from across Western New York, South Buffalo Charter School has begun the process of shaping the school’s future.

School officials announced today that South Buffalo Charter School has agreed to purchase a 26.6-acre parcel of land on which it plans to build a new school facility. The property, located at Mineral Springs Road and South Ogden Street in South Buffalo, gives the school necessary space to design and build a new campus that can accommodate an increased student population and provide students and teachers with a state-of-the-art learning environment.

“Our first ten years have been marked by significant success and a new facility will help us build upon that success in the way we serve our students,” said James Neimeier, President of the South Buffalo Charter School Board of Trustees. “Our current building presents certain logistical challenges, especially as our enrollment continues to grow.”

Explore & More Children's Museum Celebrates Iroquois Day of Sharing

EAST AURORA, N.Y.- Spend the day learning more about local Native American culture and art on Wednesday, July 27, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., as Explore & More Children’s Museum celebrates the Iroquois Day of Sharing. Funded by the New York State Council on the Arts Folk Art Program and Fisher- Price, the day’s activities will include several local Iroquois (Haudenosaunee) artists engaging your entire family in the traditions of their work – and even letting you try! Check out this great schedule!

11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Strawberry Workshop with Vivian Bradley.  Make strawberries out of felt just as a bead worker might do before they begin to work on a beaded image of one. The Haudenosaunee culture has long thought of the strawberry as a gift of the Creator.  It was one of the plants brought to this world by Sky Woman who is part of the creation story.
