Quaker’s Landing Has a Successful Wish to End Alzheimer’s Night

Quaker’s Landing, a memory care community in Orchard Park, NY held its first annual “Wish to End Alzheimer’s Night” on Wednesday August 24, 2011.  With the community assistance in purchasing Japanese Wish Lanterns, tickets for basket raffles and specialty items from the Alzheimer’s Association, they raise more than $1,000.

“Our goal was to raise awareness on the importance of supporting the Alzheimer’s association and also to raise awareness of this disease that affects so many of our loved ones.  The amount we raised from this event was unexpected and we hope to make even more next year!” states Darlene Polak, Director of Marketing.  “Everyone enjoyed the entertainment and refreshments and especially the launching the Japanese wish lanterns.”

This event can be viewed on WIVB.com under the title “Wish Lantern’s Lit to End Alzheimer’s”.  Quaker’s Landing will still be selling Lanterns and specialty items from the Alzheimer’s association for the next week and is starting to prepare for the “Walk to End Alzheimer’s” in Delaware Park on Saturday September 24, 2011.  Anyone interested in joining the Quaker’s Landing team or donating for the walk is asked to call 675-1022 for more information.
