Compeer and Mental Health Association Host 28th Annual Road 2 Recovery

Continuing the tradition of the only race and walk in Western New York dedicated to mental health awareness, Compeer of Greater Buffalo joins forces with the Mental Health Association of Erie County to host the Road 2 Recovery 5K Mental Health Run and Wellness Walk – A Superhero Run! at St. George’s Church and Delaware Park on Friday, June 28, 2013 at 6:30 p.m.

Through a partnership with the CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) program at the Mental Health Association of Erie County and The Superhero Foundation, this year’s event will be a “Superhero Race.” Organizers encourage all participants to dress up in their favorite Superhero costumes to help raise awareness for the program, which helps abused children have their voice in court and in the community. The Superhero Run calls attention to the idea that while every child needs a hero, abused children need Superheroes.

Sunglasses Offer Year-round Protection From the Sun’s Harmful Rays

If you think sunglasses are simply a fashion accessory, you’d better think again. While it’s true that they may make you look better, they are actually making you feel better as well by protecting your eyes from harmful rays and thereby helping to save your eyesight.

While your skin typically recovers from sunburn, damage from the sun’s rays to the eyes can be permanent. According to numerous medical studies, UV-A and UV-B rays can penetrate the cornea and damage the eye’s lens and retina, leading to an increased risk for cataracts and/or macular degeneration.
