All-New Winter Farm Event Coming to The Fairgrounds, February 2 & 3

HAMBURG, N.Y. - The inaugural edition of the Western New York Farm Show is coming to the Showplex on February 2nd and 3rd, 2011. Admission is free.

The two days are packed with activities including educational workshops, entertainment activities, a farm toy show, skid steer rodeo as well as venfors from across the US & Canada featuring innovative products for farms. 

Education workshops include

  • Dairy Management
  • Woodlot Management, negotiating Gas Rights Leases
  • Grape IPM; updates to the Grape/Viticulture Row Crops
  • LGM Crop Insurance Products
  • and more...

'Hamburg Hal' will be onsite- the first groundhog to predict the arrival of spring and 2011 commodity prices.

Annunciation School to Host Open House

Annunciation School to Host Open House

Annunciation School, offering academic programs for students in Pre-K3 through Grade 8, will hold its annual open house from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, February 3, at the school, located at 7580 Clinton St. in Elma.

The public is invited to stop in for refreshments, a tour of the school, and an opportunity to meet students, alumni, teachers, the pastor and the school principal. Annunciation currently serves the Alden, Alexander, Attica, Cheektowaga, Depew, East Aurora, Iroquois, Lancaster, Orchard Park and West Seneca school districts, and busing is available within a 15-mile radius.

East Aurora Rotary Plans Recycling Event

The East Aurora Rotary Club and Sunnking Recycling are organizing an electronics recycling collection on Sat., Jan. 15 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will take place in the parking lot of Nativity Lutheran Church at 970 Main St., East Aurora.

Acceptable items include: CDs, DVDs, DVD players and VCRs, stereos, calculators, desktop computers, mice, printers and monitors, kitchen appliances, telephones, dehumidifiers, air conditioners, lighting fixtures, bed frames, hand tools and other electronic devices and metal items.

Television sets and cathode ray tube (CRT) monitors will be accepted, though there will be a $6 to $8 processing fee, depending on the device.

Several types of items will not be accepted, including freon-containing items, wet cell batteries, items with liquid, laser range finders, microwaves, paint, rubber or plastic items, thermometers, propane tanks, smoke detectors, fluorescent lamps and kegs.

ELMA, NY – St. Gabriel’s Ladies’ Guild is hosting a Meat Raffle on Friday, February 11, 2011 from 7:00 – 9:30 pm at the Parish’s Hall located on 5271 Clinton Street.

Admission for the raffle is $5.00 for all ages and includes your food and pop for the evening.  Beer is available for those persons 21 and over and allows you the chance to win a door prize from a featured Theme Basket Raffle.

Tickets for the Meat Raffle come in sets of 25 for just $10.00.

The event will be held at Cyber Creek Indoor Golf Facility in Elma, beginning with the Tournament kick-off at 1:00pm, followed by the 4:00pm-7:00pm After Party. Open House to Highlight Catholic Schools Week Events at Annunciation

Students, faculty and staff at Annunciation School in Elma have big plans for Catholic Schools Week, beginning with 5 p.m. Mass and a potluck dinner on Saturday, January 29, at the church, located at 7580 Clinton St.

On Monday, January 31, local marching cadets and a color guard will visit the school. Pupils will have an opportunity to dress up as their favorite patriot or as a symbol of the United States on Tuesday, February 1. 

On Wednesday, February 2, the school will be visited by the  Buffalo Zoo’s Zoomobile and students will also be treated to a special All-American lunch. A Milk For Health presentation is also planned.
