National Start! Walking Day is April 6th!

National Start! Walking Day is April 6th!  The American Heart Association asks all American’s to become physically active by walking. Everyone is encouraged to bring their sneakers to work and take at least 30 minutes out of their day to get up and walk. It’s a great way to start your journey towards a heart-healthy lifestyle.

Take a stand against heart disease and take a walk for 30 minutes next Wednesday, April 6th.

2nd Annual Faculty/Alumni Floor Hockey Tournament
Popular Tournament Returns to EAHS April 1 at 7 PM Back by popular demand, the EAHS Freshmen Class and Student Government will sponsor the Second Annual Faculty/Alumni Floor Hockey Tournament between Parkdale, Middle School, the High School and EAHS Alumni.    The game will be held Friday, April 1, 2011 at 7pm in the High School Gymnasium.  $6.00 tickets are available at any school office or at the door ($5.00 with canned good donation).   Donated food and proceeds from T-shirts and tickets sales will benefit FISH and the Food Bank of Western New York.

Garden Professional Cunningham will Present Program at Aurora Library

Sally Cunningham, a certified nursery and landscape professional and executive director of the National Gardening Festival in Buffalo, will present “Lessons from Garden Walks,” an audio-visual program of inspiring new ideas for home gardeners, at 6:30 p.m. Mon., April 11, in the community room of the Aurora Town Public Library.

The program, which is free and open to the public, is sponsored by the Friends of the Aurora Town Public Library.

Pet Connection Plans Annual ‘Tails on the Trails’ Event

Pet Connection Programs Inc., a maternity and special care animal shelter located in Marilla, will hold its sixth annual “Tails on the Trails” dog walk from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 4, at the Como Lake Park Casino in Lancaster.

In addition to the dog walk, there will be contests, raffles, a basket auction, vendors and a cookout. Other activities and demonstrations include a “good citizen” dog test, pet blessing, pet psychic, pet first aid, dog agility and much more.

Summer Events OK'd by EA Village Board

A full slate of spring and summer activities received permit approval from the East Aurora Village Board at its meeting Monday. Among the events and series given permission to go forward were the Church in the Park program and the Movies in the Park series by East Aurora Wesleyan Church; the Town of Aurora’s Backyard Bash concert series; the Rotary Club’s Bunny Hop 5K race on April 23; and the East Aurora Farmers Market. Also approved were a single Hamlin Park church service by Baker Memorial United Methodist Church on May 29, and the Toy Town Car Show, which is returning to Main Street on Aug. 28 after a year off.
