Greater East Aurora Chamber &  East Aurora Kiwanis Partner to Benefit Scholarship Programs

East Aurora, NY, The Greater East Aurora Chamber of Commerce and the East Aurora Kiwanis Club have partnered to host a joint golf outing this year at Holland Hills Country Club, Holland NY on June 13, 2011 with a shotgun start at 10:30am. 

Allstate Insurance/The Heary Agency, Astronics Corp., Aurora Optometric Group, Bank of Holland, John Mills Distributing and Keith Bednarz Home Improvements are title sponsors of this year’s event.

Information to enter into the Competitive Exhibits department at the Erie County Fair is now available online.  There are some classes that have limited entry numbers, so don't delay.

There are over 8,000 classes to enter.

Annunciation Church Lists Holy Week Schedule

Annunciation Church, located at 7580 Clinton St. in Elma, has announced its Mass schedule for Holy Week: 

Holy Thursday: Morning prayer at 9 a.m., Mass of the Lord's Supper at 7:30 p.m. 

Good Friday: Morning prayer at 9 a.m., Stations of the Cross at noon, Solemn Liturgy of the Lord's Passion at 3 p.m., Taize Prayer at 7 p.m.

Holy Saturday: Morning prayer at 9 a.m., RCIA Rites of Preparation at 9:30 a.m., Blessing of Easter Baskets at 2 p.m., Vigil at 8:30 p.m.

Easter Sunday: Masses at 8, 10 and 11:30 a.m., and 6 p.m.

Concert Event Highlights Pet Connection's May Community Calendar

Pet Connection Programs Inc., a nonprofit maternity and special care animal shelter located in Marilla, has several community events planned during the month of May. The shelter has been placing animals into loving homes throughout Western New York since 1984.

A Mother’s Day Pork Chop Dinner and Concert will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday, May 7, at the Marilla Fire Hall, located at Two Rod Road and West Avenue. Tickets are priced at $15 per person, pre-sale only, and can be reserved by calling the shelter at 652-0192. A basket auction will also take place during the event, which will feature entertainment by the Easy Street Big Band.

Annunciation School to Host Comedy Night

Annunciation School to Host Comedy Night

A Comedy Night featuring the local comedy group Eclectic Improv will take place on Saturday, May 7, at Annunciation School in Elma, located at 7580 Clinton St. Proceeds from the event will be used to offset the cost of a new gym floor at the school.

The event will also feature a basket, silent and live auction. Snacks and beverages will be available. Tickets are available in the school office or by calling 681-1327. Adults only.

Annunciation, which boasts a growing sports program, currently serves children in Pre-K3 through Grade 8 from the Alden, Alexander, Attica, East Aurora, Cheektowaga, Depew, Iroquois, Lancaster, Orchard Park and West Seneca school districts. Destination: EARTH 2011 - The Wild Corners of the World

East Aurora, NY - Take a wild expedition around the world at Hawk Creek Wildlife Center’s Destination: EARTH event Saturday, April 30, 2011 from 11:00am to 4:00pm.

Gather up the family for a flying bird show with majestic eagles, hawks, falcons, and charismatic vultures! All children will receive a passport for their journey to the wild corners of the world where they will meet live owls, exotic birds, and some of the most elusive wildcats…the Siberian lynx, African serval, ocelot, and more! Upon completion of their journey, young travelers will earn a wild souvenir to take home!

Experience the rare opportunity to stand face-to-face with our national symbol, the bald eagle, at the unique Walk With the Eagles® exhibit. Enjoy the food, entertainment, gift store, and hands-on activities for all ages.

Susan G. Komen WNY Race for the Cure® Kick-Off Luncheon

 Determined to save lives and end breast cancer forever, the Western New York Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® will host their Kick-Off Luncheon for the 11th Annual Susan G. Komen Western New York Race for the Cure on Wednesday, April 6th, 12 pm at the Hyatt Regency Hotel.  

The 2011 Komen WNY Race for the Cure will take place on June 11th in Delaware Park; over 8,000 are expected to attend this year’s race.  As a part of the Kick-Off Luncheon the Komen WNY Affiliate will officially award 8 grants totaling $431,858 to community programs providing breast cancer services in the Western New York area.

“To meet needs right here in our community, this year’s grant slate specifically addresses the underserved population in Western New York” said Jackie Mordaunt, Executive Director of the WNY Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
