A full slate of spring and summer activities received permit approval from the East Aurora Village Board at its meeting Monday. Among the events and series given permission to go forward were the Church in the Park program and the Movies in the Park series by East Aurora Wesleyan Church; the Town of Aurora’s Backyard Bash concert series; the Rotary Club’s Bunny Hop 5K race on April 23; and the East Aurora Farmers Market. Also approved were a single Hamlin Park church service by Baker Memorial United Methodist Church on May 29, and the Toy Town Car Show, which is returning to Main Street on Aug. 28 after a year off.

Rather than voting separately on each permit, the board decided upon them as a group, voting 5-0 in favor of approval (with trustees Randy West and Patrick Shea absent). Church in the Park, which is held on Sunday mornings in the summer, and Movies in the Park, which run Friday nights in the summer, drew some discussion.

Deputy Mayor Libby Weberg noted that organizers had made some changes to the speaker systems used at the Hamlin Park event, but asked the Rev. Richard Nightingale to be sure the volume settings were kept low.
