Operation Kids Event Features Real Life Learning

This year at the East Aurora Buick GMC Pontiac Cadillac/West Herr sponsored Annual East Aurora Street Festival & Sidewalk Sale on Saturday, July 30th, a new and upcoming generation of young entrepreneurs are registering for the event to sell their own wares on the street for the event Operation Kids.

Operation Kids, is an educational event developed by the Greater East Aurora Chamber of Commerce that provides a Real Life Learning experience by focusing on teaching children all about starting a business and being a business owner for a day.  Kids will display and sell their outdated/outgrown toys, jewelry, handcrafts or other items in a special section of the street during the festival.  “Operation Kids” is made possible through the sponsorship of the Bank of Holland, Tops Markets, Christine Mathieu, Independent Financial Life Planner and Hartford Badges.

Kids will be equipped with event tee-shirts, name badges and a start up kit that will be provided.  A special seminar will be held on Wednesday, June 22nd at 7pm at the Aurora Senior Center, 101 King Street, East Aurora.  The seminar will provide ideas for creative signs and business names, display ideas and provide helpful information for them for the sale.  Spaces are limited for children from ages 6-15 and does always fills up quickly.  To receive an application for your young entrepreneur, please attend the seminar on June 22nd.  Young entrepreneurs who have participated in past Operation Kids, can pick up an application that night and do not need to attend the seminar.  For more information, contact the Chamber at 652-8444.
