County Democratic Slate Files Over 14,000 Petition Signatures

BUFFALO, NY -- Over 14,000 signatures were filed today at the Erie County Board of Elections by the democratic slate of candidates for county-wide office: County Executive Candidate Mark Poloncarz, County Clerk Candidate Maria Whyte and Family Court Judge Candidate Sharon LoVallo

"The huge number of signatures is a strong statement that democratic voters want change in Erie County. They are tired of being ruled over and not being given a say in their own futures. These petitions are an early indication that come this fall, democratic voters will be out in full force to elect Mark, Maria and Sharon," said Len Lenihan, chairman of the Erie County Democratic Committee.

Only 2,000 signatures were required to qualify the candidates, but through a large volunteer effort, more than 14,000 signatures of democratic voters were collected.

"We went to every corner of Erie County and spoke to voters about what they want. The citizens of this county want a change in leadership and they know the democrats have it in them to fight hard to take back the leadership of Erie County government," Poloncarz said.
