Orchard Park, N.Y. (July 10, 2012) – The First Tee of Western New York invites local golfers to participate in its largest annual fundraiser, the “Kids First” Golf Tournament, on July 20 at Harvest Hill Golf Course.

Presented by Sgroi Financial, the event ensures The First Tee of Western New York has the resources necessary to grow and evolve. In its eight-year history, the tournament has raised more than $100,000 for youth programs.

Through the National Schools Program and partnerships with several local YMCAs, Boys & Girls Clubs and community groups, The First Tee of Western New York reached more than 1,200 youth in 2011 and aims to reach 5,000 by 2013.

Since launching a new endeavor, The First Tee’s national “Campaign For 10 Million Young People” to help more young people succeed on the course and in life, the tournament is more important than ever.

The First Tee of Western New York encourages interested golfers to form a team and participate in the “Kids First” tournament. Companies and participants are also encouraged to sponsor the event through donations. To register, call Scott Arnold at 662-1980 x101.

The day of the tournament begins with registration at 9:30 a.m., brunch at 10 a.m. and a shotgun start at 11 a.m. The tournament wraps up with an open-bar cocktail reception, dinner, awards ceremony and auction beginning at 4 p.m.

The First Tee is a world golf foundation initiative dedicated to providing young people of all backgrounds an opportunity to develop through golf and character education, life-enhancing values such as honesty, integrity and sportsmanship. The intent is to offer opportunities for improvement in the quality of life and create a platform where children can increase their potential for success. The Harvest Hill Foundation founded the Western New York chapter of The First Tee in 1999.
