Sons Honor Father with Make-A-Wish Fundraiser | Events
A father’s love of helping the Make-A-Wish Foundation continues to shine through his children as they again organize a benefit that helps others and keeps their dad’s memory alive.
The fourth Dave Mutton Memorial Race will be held from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday, June 24, at MXK Raceway, 800 Bullis Road, Elma.
Dylan Mutton, 13, and his brother, Max, 11, are planning the event to honor Mutton, who passed away in 2002. The race combines two of their father’s passions – Make-A-Wish and go-kart racing. The boys hope to raise about $7,500, which is the average cost of granting a wish to a child with a life-threatening medical condition. The race in 2011 assisted a boy who dreamed of “decking out” his go-kart trailer. Proceeds from this year’s event will be donated to the Make-A-Wish Metro New York and Western New York Chapter.
Entrance to the event is free, and activities will include Indy-style racing, carnival games, basket raffles and silent auctions. Go-kart sessions will be $5 each and will include six laps.
A chicken barbecue also will be held for $10 per dinner, and presale tickets may be purchased at Serenity Salon, Spa ‘n’ More, 1100 Southwestern Blvd., West Seneca, and MXK Raceway.
