Niagara Athletics Hall of Famer Eva Cunningham to Host a Free Girls’ Basketball Clinic

On Saturday, February 25, basketball star Eva Cunningham will host a free basketball clinic for girls in grades 6 – 8. The clinic will be held at Buffalo Seminary, and will run from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. Participants will have the chance to work one on one with Coach Cunningham to learn the fundamentals of basketball, as well as improve their dribbling, passing and shooting. Basketball players of all skill levels are welcome.

A 2005 graduate of Niagara University, Eva Cunningham is the all-time leading scorer for the Purple Eagles women's basketball program, with a record total of 1,753 points and 553 assists. She is also the first female student-athlete in Niagara’s history to have her jersey retired.

As a star player for the Purple Eagles, Ms. Cunningham was chosen twice for the First Team MAAC (Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference). She also garnered Second Team All-MAAC honors and was tapped for the MAAC All-Rookie Team. After graduating from Niagara, she went on to play professional basketball in Puerto Rico, Portugal and Ireland. In 2010 she was inducted into the Niagara Athletics Hall of Fame. In 2011 she was named to the 2012 MAAC Honor Roll, whose members will be showcased in an exhibit at the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in March.

Since 2009, Ms. Cunningham has served as the Head Basketball Coach at Sem, and in 2011, she became Assistant Director of Athletics.

Space for the February 25 basketball clinic is limited. To register, please call (716) 885-6780.
