The Buffalo Junior Sabres will open their 2011-2012 regular season in the Ontario Junior Hockey League against the Newmarket Hurricanes this Saturday, September 10 at 7:30pm in the Northtown Center at Amherst, 1615 Amherst Manor Drive (between Maple and Millersport).

To mark the new season, fans are invited to “Meet the GM.”  New Buffalo Junior Sabres general manager and Buffalo Sabres Alumnus Michael Peca will interact with fans during the game, at which time he’ll sign autographs and answer questions about the Junior Sabres franchise.

Tickets will be available for purchase on site in the front lobby of the Northtown Center.  Prices are $7.00 for adults and $3.00 for students (with ID) and senior citizens.

As a Junior-A level program, the Buffalo Junior Sabres develop elite level players ages 16 to 20 years old for consideration with higher-level hockey programs, most notably college hockey.  Founded in 1975, the Junior Sabres organization, which has also operated as the Niagara Scenics and Buffalo Lightning in its history, has advanced hundreds of players to college programs and also served as a stepping stone for a handful of NHL talents including Aaron Miller, Kevyn Adams, Brian Gionta, Bob Beers, Jeff Farkas, Todd Marchant, Lee Stempniak and Ryan Callahan.
