Annunciation’s expanding Pre-K program to host open house events

The Strong Start Early Learning Academy at the Church of the Annunciation in Elma will host two upcoming open house events to showcase its expanding Pre-K program. The open house events will take place from 9 a.m. to noon Monday, June 29, and 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 28. Annunciation Strong Start is located at 7580 Clinton St. in Elma.

For the 2015-16 school year, Annunciation will offer Pre-K3 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, while the Pre-K4/5 program will expand and be offered from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Monday through Friday. Also in 2015-16, the program will offer before- and after-school options with drop-off beginning at 7:30 a.m. weekdays and a “lunch bunch” from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

“Our Pre-K offers a fun and Christ-centered learning community, Handwriting Without Tears, Building Blocks Math and a literacy program based on New York State standards,” said Pre-K4 Program Director Carrie D’Attilio, who is assisted by Cynthia Szymanski. “We invite all 3, 4 and 5-year-olds, along with their families, to come to our open house events and meet the teachers, tour our facility and see the great things that are happening here.”

Amanda Punaro has accepted the new Pre-K3 teaching position. She is certified in elementary and exceptional education with a B.S. in elementary education, a M.S. in exceptional education and a minor in music performance. Erin Marszalek will be the new Pre-K3 teacher’s assistant. She has a B.S. in early childhood elementary education with over 15 years experience in pre-school education.
