West Seneca’s Outdoor Farmers’ Market to Return on May 14

Main Street Marketplace, West Seneca’s popular open-air farmers’ and food producers’ marketplace sponsored by the Western New York Federal Credit Union, will return for its second season on Thursday, May 14. The weekly event will take place on Thursday evenings through Sept. 3 on the grassy hill at the corner of Union Road and Main Street, next to West Seneca Town Hall.

The outdoor venue will feature approximately 20 full-time (16-week) and 10 part-time (eight-week) vendors selling a wide variety of products. For updates on participating vendors, please visit Main Street Marketplace, West Seneca on Facebook.

One local community group will host an informational table at the market each week. Groups making up the 2015 schedule include Code Blue Relief Mission, May 14; Free Soul Dance, May 21; Meals on Wheels WNY, May 28; West Seneca Chamber of Commerce, June 4; Burchfield Nature and Art Center, June 11; and West Seneca Continuing/Community Education, June 18. Also, West Seneca West Marching Band Boosters, July 2; West Seneca Rotary, July 9; Enjoy The Journey Art Gallery, July 16; Black Dog Second Chance, July 23; West Seneca Community Emergency Response Team, July 30; Linkon’s Last Chance Animal Rescue, Aug. 6; West Seneca Woman’s Club, Aug. 13; Erie County Legislator Joe Lorigo, Aug. 20; Steppin’ Out Dance Academy, Aug. 27; and Cub Scout Pack #416, Sept. 3.

Local entertainment will also be featured at the market from approximately 5:30 to 7 p.m., weather permitting. Guests are invited to bring a blanket or chairs for their comfort. Well-behaved dogs are allow on a leash. There will be no market on Thursday, June 25, due to West Seneca Community Days.

“We had tremendous support from our vendors, town officials and our dedicated customers last season, which was the very first year of the market,” said West Seneca resident Joe Kirchmyer, the market’s organizer. “We invite the residents of West Seneca and beyond to come spend some time at the market, watch a baseball game in the park and enjoy some live music at the Lion’s Bandshell. It’s a great way to spend an evening!”

In the event of unfavorable weather, the market moves into the parking lot in front of the West Seneca Ice Rink.
