First Robin of Spring?

First Robin of Spring?

Could this be the first robin of spring in Western New York? This bird was spotted in Killbuck, NY (outside Salamanca) by 2 On Your Side Facebook friend Eva Brooks on Wednesday morning.

If you can get a photo of a robin, email it to us and we'll post it here.

From Flightless to Unforgettable

From Flightless to Unforgettable

Hawk Creek Wildlife Center of East Aurora is a safe haven for hundreds of orphaned and injured wildlife.  Our volunteer staff works tirelessly 365 days a year to accommodate the needs of every incoming animal patient.  Among all the patients receiving care, there is always one animal that stands out from the rest and exceeds our expectations.  One recent animal patient in particular was an injured Red-tailed Hawk.

First Golden Eagle Released into the Wild in 35 Years

First Golden Eagle Released into the Wild in 35 Years

East Aurora, NY - The young female golden eagle hatched last spring at Hawk Creek Wildlife Center was successfully released into the wild on January 15, 2012 after attending “eagle college” at the World Bird Sanctuary in St. Louis, Missouri. This momentous event was the first golden eagle release in the renowned Sanctuary’s 35 year existence. The appropriately named, “Legacy”, was returned to the same Midwest skies her permanently injured mother once soared in decades before. The eagle’s much anticipated release in St. Louis was captured through TV coverage and can be viewed at facebook.com/hawkcreekwildlife.
