Broadway Actor Returns to East Aurora High School

From 1989 to 1991, the name Justin Gomlak could be found in programs for local school musical productions. The name may have changed – he’s now known as Justin Greer – but the East Aurora High School graduate’s enthusiasm for the stage is still strong.

Greer, a Broadway performer who has appeared in “Shrek the Musical,” “The Producers,” “Urban Cowboy” and “Annie Get Your Gun,” visited his old high school on Monday to meet with the students involved in the production of “Seussical,” which opens Friday. It’s a show close to his heart; Greer was part of the original Broadway cast.

Help Make East Aurora Famous!

EAST AURORA, NY – The Kiwanis Club of East Aurora will make their second attempt to enter the Guiness Book of World Records on Friday, March 4th.

Going for the world’s largest fish fry, the goal is to break the current record of 2,552 fish fry dinners at one location during a four hour period.

The $9.00 take-out only dinner, will be prepared by BW’s Smokin’ Barrel Barbecue and will include coleslaw, potato salad, and rye bread and butter as per requirements.

Dinners will be served from 3:00 – 7:00 PM in the Parkdale Elementary’s North Parking Lot the day of the event.

Annunciation Students Enjoy Trip to Armor Elementary for Andy Parker’s Weather Machine

Third- through sixth-grade students from Annunciation School in Elma traveled to Armor Elementary School in Hamburg today to experience Andy Parker’s Weather Machine in action. Both schools had competed in a competition for the show by donating food to the Food Bank of WNY during the holiday season.

While Armor took first place in the competition, they were impressed with the effort put forth by the students at Annunciation, who collected and donated 906 pounds of food to the Food Bank. Armor then extended an invitation to the students from Annunciation, who were very pleased to accept!

Pet Connection Announces February Community Events

Pet Connection Programs Inc., a nonprofit maternity and special care animal shelter located in Marilla, has several community events planned during the month of February. Thanks to fundraising events like these and a group of dedicated volunteers, the shelter has been helping animals find great homes in Western New York since 1984.

On Friday, February 4, Pet Connection volunteers and puppies will be at M&T Bank in East Aurora. Volunteers and pups will also be at the Walden Galleria in Cheektowaga from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on three Saturdays, February 5, 19 and 26.

Annunciation School to Host Open House

Annunciation School to Host Open House

Annunciation School, offering academic programs for students in Pre-K3 through Grade 8, will hold its annual open house from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, February 3, at the school, located at 7580 Clinton St. in Elma.

The public is invited to stop in for refreshments, a tour of the school, and an opportunity to meet students, alumni, teachers, the pastor and the school principal. Annunciation currently serves the Alden, Alexander, Attica, Cheektowaga, Depew, East Aurora, Iroquois, Lancaster, Orchard Park and West Seneca school districts, and busing is available within a 15-mile radius.

M&T Bank Supports Local Animal Shelter

M&T Bank showed its community spirit in a big way on Friday, January 14, presenting a check for $1,000 to Pet Connection Programs Inc., a nonprofit maternity and special care shelter for dogs and cats located in Marilla.

Marilyn Heim, vice president and branch manager of M&T Bank’s East Aurora branch, presented the check from M&T’s Charitable Foundation to Julie Garvey, president of Pet Connection Programs Inc.
