Valentines for Veterans Program Generates Thousands of Cards

Hundreds of handmade Valentine’s Day cards will be delivered to members of the American Legion Post No. 735 thanks to local students’ hard work. Legislator Joseph C. Lorigo thanks the schools that participated in the Valentines for Veterans program and was pleased to report that many heartfelt cards were made.

“Valentines for Veterans is a program that shows our veterans how grateful we are to them for their service by giving them Valentines from area students. The students were very excited to participate and many shared stories with me about family members who have served or are serving in the armed forces. At this young age they already understand the sacrifice made by our servicemen and women,” Legislator Lorigo said. “I want to thank the schools for participating in this program and making tremendous cards for local veterans.”

The following schools from Legislator Lorigo’s District participated:

  • Queen of Heaven
  • Our Lady Sacred Heart
  • Northwood Elementary
  • Allendale Elementary
  • Annunciation School
  • Holland H.O. Brumsted Elementary School

“Our veterans deserve accolades year round. Valentines for Veterans is just another way that we can honor veterans and let them know that we appreciate their service,” Legislator Lorigo added.
