A house fire on Rice Road in Elma on Feb. 4 left one family with nothing but the clothes on their back. And now the family is appealing to the community for assistance.

“The support of family, friends and strangers has been a godsend,” said Timothy Panicali, who barely escaped the fast-moving early morning blaze with his wife and their two young sons. “People have been very generous with things like clothes and shoes. We were very blessed to get out safe.” The Buffalo Chapter of the American Red Cross is also assisting the family.

An emergency relief fund for the Panicali family has been set up through Citizens Bank. Individuals interested in making a monetary donation can visit any Citizens Bank location in Western New York and ask the teller to search for the name Timothy Panicali. Deposits can then be made into the emergency relief account ending in 5384.
