Farmers & Artisans Hosts First-time Cheese Event

Farmers & Artisans Hosts First-time Cheese Event

A unique “Meet the Cheesemaker” event was held on December 1 at Farmers & Artisans, located at 78 East Spring St. in Williamsville. Guests at the event sampled wine and cheese with cheesemaker Max Sandvoss from First Light Farm & Creamery in East Bethany, N.Y.

First Light produces a wide variety of goat’s milk and cow’s milk artisanal cheeses made by hand in small batches. First Light employs meticulously sustainable and humane management of their herd of Nubian and Alpine dairy goats. Many of their recipes combine their milk with organic Jersey milk from their neighbor's exceptionally well-managed dairy. This combination results in a unique, delicious flavor and consistency to all of their cheeses.

Buy American This Holiday

Buy American This Holiday

(Buffalo, NY) — With the official start of the holiday shopping season just hours away, Western New Yorkers are asking how they're going to afford presents for their loved ones in this uncertain economy. Elma's Made In America Store (www.saveourcountryfirst.com) says the answer is very simple: buy American, support American jobs and keep your money in America.

The Made In America Store opened in April 2010 as the only brick-and-mortar retail outlet in the country that sells 100% American-made products, right down to the packaging. Since opening, the store has received international media attention, including from Japan, South Korea and Russia. In September, the store unveiled a new 1,100 square-foot addition and now offers 3,500 USA-made products.

Help a Woman Fighting Cancer: Clean for a Reason

Have you ever wondered how to best help a family member, friend or colleague battling cancer?

While simply being there for them as an emotional support system can often be enough, one national non-profit organization works to help make their home life easier by offering them help where they most need it.

Cleaning for a Reason was developed just a few years ago as a free professional cleaning outlet for women undergoing treatment for any type of cancer.  With 547 partners currently signed up to provide the service across both the United States and Canada, this non-profit organization is continuously expanding its reach to help more and more affected women.

To sign-up, all a woman needs is to do is have her doctor fax a note confirming the treatment of chemotherapy to the representatives at Cleaning for a Reason
