State Parks Seeking Partners at Knox Farm State Park
State Parks Seeking Partners at Knox Farm State Park

A Statement Released by the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation

The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation has released a request for proposals (RFP) for private-sector businesses or qualified not-for-profit organizations for the design, construction and operation of an equestrian center at Knox Farm State Park.

The selected licensee will develop an equestrian program in existing facilities, add facilities as necessary to support the proposed activities and enhance Knox Farm State Park, while respecting the historic, environmental and cultural resources, and context of the park. Any proposed use must include a public benefit and purpose consistent with and complimentary to the property’s designation as a state park and will bear all costs of the program.

Knox Farm State Park, with a significant equestrian history, is the former country estate of Buffalo's renowned Knox Family. It is located adjacent to the historic village of East Aurora, birthplace of the Roycroft Arts & Crafts movement and former home of Millard Fillmore. The park's 633 acres are comprised of a variety of habitats, including 400 acres of grasslands (pastures and hayfields), and 100 acres of woodlands, ponds and several wetland areas.

Interested parties may request more information or a copy of RFP X001088 by contacting Mr. Dan Sklarski at 716.278.1742 or by emailing him at Dan.Sklarski@parks.ny.gov.
