Roycrofters At Large Association Hosts Annual Holiday Show

An Annual holiday tradition in East Aurora, NY is the Roycroft Arts & Crafts Winter Festival.  The Festival takes place on December 3rd & 4th, 2011 from 10am-5pm at the East Aurora Main Street School, East Aurora NY.  This year’s event will showcase 35 Juried Artisans, all of whom are Roycroft Renaissance Artisans.  The event traditionally has been a wonderful venue to start the holiday season of gift giving with a wonderful selection of handcrafted items made with the highest standards in craftsmanship.  Many media’s are available including jewelry, wood, clay, book arts, metal, tile and many other art forms.  Holiday music and refreshments will be available, admission just a $1 for adults.

The Roycroft Renaissance Artisans have been accepted by the Roycrofters At Large Association’s  Master Artisans based on their superior quality of work through a Juried process.  These Artisans proudly display the registered double R mark repres

Under the direction of guest conductor Paul Ferington, music will include Stephenson’s “Holiday Overture” and “Swing Carol Fantasy,” Humperdinck’s “Evening Prayer” and “Dream Pantomime” from Hansel and Gretel, and Leontovich’s “Carol of the Bells.”

Christmas classics “Silent Night,” “Away in the Manger” and “Parade of the Tin Soldiers” will feature handbell soloist Diane Dick.

Soprano Jennifer Stafford will sing a medley of “I Saw Three Ships” and “Bring a Torch” and also “The Twelve Days After Christmas.”

Canisius College Chorale to Perform at Annunciation Church

The Canisius College Chorale, under the direction of Frank Scinta, will continue its 2011 Sacred Spaces concert series with a program at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, December 4, in Annunciation Church, 7580 Clinton St., Elma. The concert will feature works by Handel, Lotti, Hogan, Dawson and others, and admission is free.

Sacred Spaces stems from an idea the choir proposed seven years ago to feature its music in some of Western New York’s most beautiful and acoustically resonant environments — namely, the sanctuaries of our area’s churches. As a result, the choir has visited nearly 40 houses of worship with its repertoire of sacred and secular music spanning five centuries.

There will be Roycrofter-At-Large artisan demonstrations on the Roycroft Campus as well in local studios.  Arts and Antiques Walk on Friday night, tours of the Roycroft Campus, Baker UM Church's Tiffany windows, local museums, music, concerts, as well as special activities and events throught out the village.

No Frills Buffalo Plans Book Launch Party

Buffalo-based publishing firm No Frills Buffalo will celebrate the release of its latest book, “Broken and Profane” by Jeff Schober, at 7:30 p.m. Friday, November 4, at Jack Devine’s Irish Pub, 4170 Southwestern Blvd., Hamburg.

A crime novel, “Broken and Profane” is the third book written by Schober, who also penned “Bike Path Rapist” with Detective Dennis Delano and the novel “Undercurrent.” Schober’s latest effort will be available for just $12.95 during the launch party, which is open to the public.
