Buffalo Seminary to Host "Charles Dickens Presents: A Christmas Carol" Starring Mike Randall

On Friday, December 21, 2012, Sem will present a special performance of Charles Dickens Presents: A Christmas Carol starring Mike Randall. The performance is being produced and hosted by the school's student-run Drama Club. Students will sell concessions prior to the show starting at 6:30 p.m. The school’s student singing group, the Semachords, will entertain guests before Mr. Randall takes the stage at 7:30 p.m. This will be the only city of Buffalo performance of the one-man show.

Well-known to Western New Yorkers as the chief meteorologist for WKBW Channel 7, Mike Randall is also a veteran actor. He has earned acclaim for impersonating another famous novelist for the stage: humorist Mark Twain.

Charles Dickens Presents: A Christmas Carol is based on the British author’s 1868 reading tour in the United States, for which Buffalo was one of the many stops. During the tour, audiences came to hear Mr. Dickens read aloud from his novel about Ebenezer Scrooge and the family of Tiny Tim.

“We’re so honored for the opportunity to host such an exciting show,” said Emily Glick, a senior and president of the Drama Club. “It makes me so excited to know that even though I am still in high school, I am working with such a dedicated group of girls to produce a professional show, with professional standards. Everyone involved is working so hard, and I know it will be amazing."

The Drama Club is advised by Susan Drozd, Sem’s theatre instructor and a veteran of the local theatre scene.

Tickets are $15 each and can be reserved or purchased online at www.BuffaloSeminary.org/ChristmasCarol.

Guests are also invited to bring a donation of one winter clothing item for Sem’s “Warmth Tree.” The tree will be on display during Mr. Randall’s performance. All items will be donated to St. Luke’s Mission of Mercy.
