New Stop Sign Installed at Center and Prospect

After hearing from residents on both sides of the issue, the East Aurora Village Board was split in its Dec. 20 vote to create a four-way stop at the intersection of Prospect Avenue and Center Street. There has long been a stop sign for motorists on Prospect Avenue, but now those on Center Street will need to stop as well.

Among neighbors to the intersection, Center Street resident Mark Warren had the last word, asking the board to install the new stop. “Cars pick up a real head of steam” heading on Center Street from the Linden Avenue stop to the Oakwood Avenue stop, Warren said. “We have a lot of four-way stops in the village, and that’s an intersection that just has that feeling, like it should be a four-way stop, but because it isn’t, cars [on Prospect] sometimes go when they shouldn’t.”
