Families Invited to Stroller Strides of Buffalo's 'Go Red for Women' fitness event

Share your love of fitness by joining Stroller Strides of Buffalo for a special "Go Red for Women" workout as part of the American Heart Association's America Goes Red Challenge. 

Families and friends are invited to an open workout from 8:45-9:45 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 16 at the Walden Galleria Mall, meeting between Bravo! and the Melting Pot. Registration opens at 8:30 a.m. 

Class is free for first time Stroller Strides participants and their guest. Attendees are encouraged to wear red to show their support of the American Heart Association's mission.

Over 1,000 Cards Collected through Legislator Lorigo’s 2nd Annual Valentines for Veterans Program

Handmade Valentine’s Day cards were delivered to local veterans thanks to students at schools located throughout Erie County – District 10. Legislator Joseph Lorigo, who represents the 10thDistrict, visited several of the schools recently to recognize the students for participating in his second annual Valentines for Veterans program, which honors members of the military for their service.

Annunciation School Offers Pre-K-to-Kindergarten Incentive Program

Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary School in Elma has introduced a new financial incentive program for families of pre-kindergarten students interested in transitioning their children into the school’s kindergarten program. The financial package can reach a maximum of $1,000 in incentives.

Current and future half-day Pre-K students who complete one year of Pre-K at Annunciation will receive a $250 kindergarten tuition credit, while those who complete two years of half-day Pre-K will receive a $500 kindergarten incentive. Current and future full-day Pre-K students who complete one year of Pre-K at Annunciation will receive a $500 kindergarten tuition credit, while those who complete two years of full-day Pre-K will receive a $1,000 kindergarten tuition incentive.

The Buffalo Warriors professional basketball team made several announcements in the past week, including news about the 2013 season and plans to bring an NBA Development League team to Western New York.

The Warrior were set to begin play in the newly formed IBA-PBL basketball league this season, but scheduling delays caused the team to change focus and create a schedule consisting of international opponents beginning with the home opener on March 27 at the Event Center at the Hamburg Fairgrounds. Warriors players and management agreed that the international concept would provide the players with more opportunities to continue their careers with professional teams overseas.
